When your vehicle is damaged in an accident, the experience can be frustrating, stressful, and uncertain. Most drivers simply want one thing: to have their vehicle repaired correctly and safely.
At Shadow Lake Collision, the team understands that every repair represents more than just body panels and paint. It represents your safety, your vehicle, and your peace of mind.
That is why Shadow Lake Collision was built around a simple idea: provide professional auto body repair that prioritizes correctness, transparency, and service.
With locations serving drivers throughout Omaha and Papillion, Nebraska, Shadow Lake Collision focuses on helping customers navigate the repair process with confidence while restoring vehicles using structured repair procedures and modern equipment.
When you bring your vehicle to Shadow Lake Collision, you are not just choosing a repair facility. You are choosing a team committed to doing the job the right way.
Shadow Lake Collision was founded by Eric Dawson, whose experience in the collision repair industry began long before the shop itself was created.
Eric grew up on a farm where his father operated a trucking company. When one of his father’s drivers was involved in an accident, Eric’s father helped that driver open a truck body shop. From an early age, Eric spent time around repair environments and learned how damaged vehicles were restored.
Although he once imagined a future as a farmer or cowboy, Eric eventually returned to the automotive field and began working in a local body shop. Over time he gained experience not only in repair work, but also in office and management roles that exposed him to the operational side of the industry.
This combination of hands-on exposure and business experience laid the foundation for his future as a shop owner.
In 2004, Eric purchased AA Collision Repair, a shop originally established in 1975. Operating that business gave him years of experience managing technicians, coordinating repairs, working with insurance companies, and overseeing the daily operations of a collision repair facility.
Those years of ownership ultimately led to the creation of a new brand built around a clear vision for customer experience and repair standards.
In March of 2008, Eric established Shadow Lake Collision in Papillion, Nebraska.
The shop was named after the local Shadow Lake area and was designed to serve the surrounding communities with professional collision repair and auto body services.
From the beginning, the goal was not simply to operate another body shop. Eric wanted to build a facility known for repairing vehicles correctly while delivering a professional and respectful experience for customers.
This philosophy continues to guide the shop today.
Eric has often explained his approach to repairs with a simple idea:
“I want to be known as the place to go when you want your car repaired correctly and you want great service.”
That mindset influences every part of the repair process, from the first estimate to the final vehicle delivery.
Auto body repair has changed dramatically as vehicles have become more advanced. Today’s vehicles include complex materials, sensors, and safety systems that require careful planning and structured repair procedures.
Shadow Lake Collision approaches repairs with a philosophy centered on accuracy and accountability.
Eric has repeatedly emphasized that doing the repair correctly is more important than simply finishing the job quickly. One of his guiding principles is simple:
“I’d rather lose money and do it right.”
This mindset shapes the shop’s internal standards, which include:
Behind every successful auto body repair is a coordinated team of technicians, estimators, and support staff.
Shadow Lake Collision operates with a structured team across both locations.
The Papillion facility includes estimators, a parts manager, body technicians, paint technicians, and detailing staff working together to move vehicles through the repair process.
The Omaha facility operates with a similar team structure designed to support efficient repair planning and consistent quality.
Each role within the shop plays an important part in the repair process.
Estimators help customers understand the repair plan and work with insurance companies when applicable. Technicians perform structural and body repairs. Paint technicians handle refinishing work, and detailing staff ensure the vehicle is ready for delivery.
The goal is simple: create a coordinated workflow that allows every repair to move through the shop efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
Shadow Lake Collision is also a family business with a long-term vision.
In 2025, the company expanded with the opening of a second location in Omaha, Nebraska. The expansion introduced the next generation of leadership into the business.
Eric’s sons now hold majority ownership of the Omaha facility and are actively involved in the operational side of the business. They are being trained in repair planning and damage analysis, which Eric believes are essential skills for long-term success in the industry.
This transition represents more than just growth. It reflects a commitment to building a lasting organization that continues serving customers in the Omaha area for years to come.
Both Shadow Lake Collision locations are equipped to support modern vehicle repairs.
The Papillion location operates from a 19,000-square-foot facility equipped with specialized equipment including heated paint booths, frame racks, and digital measuring systems used during structural repairs.
The newer Omaha facility is a 22,500-square-foot shop designed to accommodate a wide range of vehicle sizes, including taller vehicles.
These facilities allow the team to handle repairs involving:
Repairing a vehicle after an accident can feel overwhelming for many drivers.
Shadow Lake Collision focuses on providing a clear and supportive experience from start to finish.
Customers typically begin by scheduling an estimate. During the visit, the team performs a thorough walk-around inspection and explains the repair plan.
Throughout the repair process, customers receive updates and guidance regarding insurance coordination and repair progress.
When the vehicle is ready for pickup, the team conducts a personal delivery walk-around to review the completed work and answer any questions.
This approach helps ensure that customers understand the process and feel confident about the repairs performed on their vehicle.
Today, Shadow Lake Collision operates two locations serving drivers throughout the Omaha metropolitan area.
Customers from Papillion, Omaha, Bellevue, and surrounding communities rely on the team when they need professional auto body repair after an accident.
The shop’s long-term vision is simple: build a reputation as the place people trust when they want their vehicle repaired correctly.
That commitment continues to guide every repair performed at Shadow Lake Collision.
